adaptation: (in climate science) The development of new programs, processes, policies and structures to make communities and their inhabitants better able to head off — or at least withstand — the dangerous impacts of a warming world.
athletic trainer: A health care professional who work with people who participate in sports. They provide exercises and guidance on how to move strengthen, stretch and train muscles and improve stamina so that people can limit the risk of injury in sports. electrolyte: A non-metallic liquid or solid that conducts ions — electrically charged atoms or molecules — to carry electrical charges. (Certain minerals in blood or other bodily fluids can serve as the ions that move to carry a charge.) Electrolytes also can serve as the ions that move positive charges within a battery or capacitor.
evaporate: To turn from liquid into vapor.
factor: Something that plays a role in a particular condition or event; a contributor.
heart rate: Heart beat; the number of times per minute that the heart — a pump — contracts, moving blood throughout the body.
heat exhaustion: An illness that can result from prolonged heat exposure. Symptoms include extreme sweating, fast breathing and a weak pulse. Without treatment, heat exhaustion can turn into heat stroke.
